Senior Probation Officer

2017 – Present

As a Senior Probation Officer, I provide professional assessment, rehabilitation planning, psychosocial support, and community reintegration services to individuals in the criminal justice system. I prepare Social Inquiry Reports, Pre-sentence Reports, Supervision Plans, and Aftercare Assessments to support judicial decision-making and offender rehabilitation.

I facilitate restorative justice processes, crime prevention initiatives, behavioural change programs, family therapy, and counselling interventions. My work involves close collaboration with courts, correctional institutions, law enforcement, community structures, and multidisciplinary partners to promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism.

This role has strengthened my skills in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, offender case management, trauma support, and community-based rehabilitation strategies.

Associate Lecturer

2025 – Present

I teach and facilitate learning in Counselling Psychology programs through lectures, assessments, student mentorship, practicum supervision, and academic guidance. I support learners in understanding psychological theory, counselling practice, research methods, and ethical principles.

My teaching approach integrates real-world practice from the criminal justice system, mental health work, and therapeutic interventions to support experiential learning. I mentor students academically, emotionally, and professionally, fostering reflective practice and personal growth.

I also assist students in career development, academic writing, research proposal development, and community engagement initiatives.

2025 – Present

I offer counselling and mental health support to adolescents and adults, addressing trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, behavioural concerns, and relational challenges. I conduct psychological assessments and provide individualized therapeutic interventions.

I also facilitate personal development coaching, substance-use counselling, career guidance, and resilience-building programs that empower clients to improve their emotional wellbeing and life outcomes.

This role strengthens my applied psychological practice and complements my academic and community-based rehabilitation work.

Research Experience

I have been actively engaged in academic and field research in psychology, criminology, social behaviour, and community development. My notable work includes:

  • Postgraduate Research: “Effects of Remand Experiences on Psychological Disposition of Inmates in Selected Prisons in Kiambu County.”This study examined how confinement, uncertainty, and institutional conditions influence inmate psychological wellbeing.
  • Field Research: Work with Kimetrica, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS),Centum, and other organizations in large-scale data collection, household surveys, socio-economic assessments, and community studies.
  • Expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodologies, tool development, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and report writing.
